എല്ലാ വർഷവും ജനുവരി ഒൻപത് ഭാരതീയ പ്രവാസി ദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു. മഹാത്മാ ഗാന്ധി 1915 ജനുവരി ഒൻപതിനാണ് ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയിൽനിന്നും മടങ്ങി മുംബൈയിലെത്തിയത്. ഇതിൻ്റെ ഓർമ്മദിനവും കൂടിയാണ് പ്രവാസി ദിനം. കേന്ദ്ര വിദേശ മന്ത്രാലയം, The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), The Confederation of Indian Industries(CII) ,the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region എന്നിവർ ചേർന്നാണ് ഈ ദിനമാഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്. 2003 മുതൽ പ്രവാസി ദിനമാഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. കേരളത്തിലെ കൊച്ചിയിലായിരുന്നു 2013-ൽ(11-ാമത്) ഭാരതീയ പ്രവാസി ദിനാഘോഷത്തിൻ്റെ കേന്ദ്രം. 2017-ലെ പ്രവാസി ദിനാഘോഷം ബാംഗ്ലൂരിലായിരുന്നു. 2019 ലെ വിഷയം : "Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India".
